For the first time a book showcasing the winners of the annual Most Successful Design Awards has been released, providing an inspirational survey of China’s signature designs from 2009.

The full-color volume was produced by the organizer of the awards. Since their inception in 2006, the Most Successful Design Awards have become recognized as the most authoritative and respected awards of their kind in China.

Cathy Huang, founder of CBi and editor-in-chief of the yearbook, said the book aims to display the depth and breadth of design ingenuity in China, inspire the industry as a whole and encourage submissions for the Most Successful Design Awards 2010.

“By recognizing excellence in design strategy and social impact as well as the marketing and financial performance, our annual awards promote wider strategic thinking in how design can be more efficiently used by businesses to achieve their goals,” Cathy Huang continued. “This book should not be missed for anyone with even a passing interest in design. It is a comprehensive summary and fascinating insight into the best design work to come out of China in 2009.”

The book’s glossy finish and fresh layout encourage readers to lose themselves in the huge range of innovative ideas submitted, which range from the iconic, such as the Watercube National Swimming Centre in Beijing, to the elegant, such as the Philips My-Reading-Light.

Along with the Diamond Award, Gold Award, Most Successful Team Award and Most Successful Design Award winners, 61 other designs that impressed the expert panel of nine judges are detailed in the book. Each entry is accompanied by high-quality photos that bring to life the talent on display. In addition, there are in-depth special reports that tell the detailed story, from inception to final design, of a selection of the entrants.

As well as being the most widely anticipated awards of the design industry calendar, the Most Successful Design Awards are unique in that, rather than merely looking at the end product, the panel of judges takes into account the underlying strategy and entire process that went in to the designs.
