China Bridge International, the organizer of iF Design Award China, has encouraged multitudinous companies to participate the iF Design Award China. The number of participators almost doubled in the past 2 years, and 4 times larger comparing to the initiate year 2003 --all Asian enterprises above active at a global level are increasingly recognizing that good design represents a decisive international competitive advantage.

All prize winning entries will be displayed in a month-long exhibition from September 14th to October 14th, 2007 at Shanghai Creative Window in the heart of downtown Shanghai. Out of the successful 147 entries, the top ten --the so-called "TOP Selection" group-- have been announced at the awards ceremony on today's opening of the exhibition, and the winners have been presented with a special statuette, especially designed by Fritz Frenkler for the iF design award china 2007.

In the presence of Ralph Wiegmann (managing director of iF), Mr. Sha Hualin (mayor of Luwan District) as well as jury-member Jonathan Li (Managing partner of Asentio Design) the TOP Selection winner of the 5th iF design award china 2007 have received their sculptures. Numerous guests not only attended the award, but also visited the exhibition of all award-winning contributions in Shanghai Creative Window.

The panel of judges were organized by CBI, for this year's iF design award china consisted of Mr. Jonathan Li (Managing Partner of Asentio Design), Mr. Wen-Long Chen (President of Nova Design), Mr. Tony Chang (CEO of the Taiwan Design Center), Mr. Richard Kong (Design Director of Procter & Gamble Asia), Mr. Pierre Lo (President China Region of the ICIAD) and Mr. Shizuki Kajiyama (Director of Yangfeng Visteon Automotive Trim Systems). The expert panel selected 147 products as the recipients of an iF seal of design excellence. The judges considered it noteworthy that the new "Interior Design" category elicited such a positive response, registering a total of 53 entries, with 11 winners among them. The highest number of entries was received in the categories of "Communication & Entertainment","Leisure & Lifestyle" and "Household & Living". The bulk of products submitted came from China, Hong Kong and Taiwan, but a large number of German enterprises were also involved.

The criteria consisted of design quality, workmanship, choice of materials, degree of innovation, environmental friendliness, functionality, ergonomics, visualization of use, safety, brand value/branding and technical and formal independence. Only fully functional products were judged, and a total of 401 products were submitted for the competition.
